South African lightweight champion Tshifhiwa Munyai is not going to shy away from his duty thus he has decided that his next fight is going to be against the number one contender.
In this case, former SA featherweight and junior-lightweight titlist Aphiwe Mboyiya is the number one contender according to the Boxing South Africa (BSA) ratings.
“I’m going to fight against the guy rated number one. He deserves to fight against me. I’m not going to fight against anyone who is rated below Mboyiya. After Mboyiya l will fight against (Lusanda) Komanisi,” Munyai said.
The 36-year-old Munyai, who is trained by Alan Toweel in Johannesburg, believes that he needs more action as age is no longer on his side.
“I’m not sure as to when the fight will take place. At my age I don’t want to stay too long without getting any action,” Munyai said.
Munyai stopped Gqeberha-based Sanele Msimang in his second defence of the national title in Johannesburg last October.
