Boxing South Africa (BSA) has suspended its chief financial officer Thabang Moses and Ink Sport has learnt that his suspension is linked to the alleged use of a credit card allegedly belonging to TK Boxing Promotions boss Tshele Kometsi.

It’s alleged that the credit card has allegedly been used by some BSA officials including Moses, who last October denied rumours that he was on the verge of leaving the organisation.

News of the alleged use of Kometsi’s credit card by BSA officers surfaced after a four minutes and 48 seconds voice note was circulated in September last year where voices speaking in SeSotho were discussing the matter and were heard referring to Moses as a bum from the Free State. The voice note indirectly hinted that Kometsi’s credit card was kept at BSA offices in Hatfield, Pretoria, for personal use by the boxing body’s officers and an amount of R14 000 was allegedly withdrawn from it at the time.

Acting BSA chief executive officer Nsikayezwe Sithole didn’t want to say much when contacted for comment on Moses’ suspension on Tuesday.

“For now, it’s an internal matter. We wouldn’t want to discuss it publicly,” Sithole remarked.

Meanwhile, efforts to solicit a comment from Moses were unsuccessful as he could not be reached because his cellphone was consistently off.
