South African boxing’s oldest champion Nkululeko ‘Bulldog’ Mhlongo is scheduled to put his national title on the line in a fight against Ayanda ‘Nyamazane’ Mthembu.
Mhlongo, who received his national junior-middleweight championship belt from Boxing South Africa (BSA) recently, clashes with Mthembu at the Victoria Mxenge Indoor Sports Centre in Umlazi, Durban, on Sunday, 27 February.
The 40-year-old Mhlongo from Eshowe goes to the Mthembu clash following a stunning eighth round stoppage of Namibian boxer Lukas Ndalofuma in a World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa middleweight title fight at the Windhoek County Club Resort and Casino in Namibia last December.
Meanwhile, Smiso Buthelezi and Siphesihle Mntungwa are scheduled to square up for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) lightweight crown.
