Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis is pleased with her players’ fitness levels ahead of their international friendly match against Zambia in Lusaka on Saturday.
Banyana Banyana are going to use the Zambia match to prepare for their African Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria. They face Algeria at home on Friday next week and away five days later.
“I was excited and surprised at the level of fitness considering the clubs have just had preseason. We also sent out a programme just to make sure they cover all our bases,” Ellis said.
“We have to give a big thank you to the coaches at clubs who have worked very hard with the players during preseason. Most of them haven’t played really much games.”
Cape Town-born Ellis and her team have been in camp preparing for the Zambia game since Friday last week. They leave for Zambia on Thursday.
