Coach MacDonald Makhubedu always knew that his team Sekhukhune United would do good and score many goals one day even though they had gone through a five-match winless streak.
And the day came when they hammered struggling Baroka FC 4-0 in a DStv Premiership match at the Emirates Airline Park Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday evening. The result left Makhubedu with a smile on his face.
“We were hungry. Remember, we went five games without good results. I thought second half they would come back strong. They thought we were going to defend a lot, too deep, like we did in the first round,” Makhubedu remarked.
“We played good football, thanks to my technical team. We played between the fullbacks and centrebacks. I think we played well, we can take this performance to the next game.”
Baroka coach Kgoloko Thobejane, meanwhile, admitted that his boys wouldn’t have scored even if another 90 minutes had been added on.
“My boys were not in the game. If you look at the goals of Sekhukhune, they were all from our transition. We responded very, very late in incidents of transition,” Thobejane said.
