Prince Dlomo has warned Xolani ‘Tiger’ Mcotheli and advised him to work extra hard if he hopes to wrestle the South African junior-welterweight title away from him.

The 32-year-old Dlomo, who is based in Mzimhlophe in Soweto, is going to defend his title against Mcotheli in a rematch in April.

Dlomo was an unheralded boxer only two years ago, but things changed considerably for him after he stunned former SA and world champion Xolisani Ndongeni with a sixth round stoppage in October 2020.

And Dlomo has not looked back as he went on to dethrone Mcotheli in March last year. Now he wants to break the hearts of Eastern Cape boxing fans by beating Mcotheli again.

“I hope Mcotheli is gonna bring something new and he better come prepared or I will beat him again. He must take the fight to me if he wants to win. He must not run around the ring just like he did in our previous fight,” Dlomo said.

Dlomo has beaten all his three last opponents from the Eastern Cape. He defeated Ndongeni, Mcotheli and Siseko Makeleni, whom he met in his first defence of the SA title in September last year.

Meanwhile, Dlomo lost his last fight when he was defeated by Belarusian Yauheni Dauhaliavets art the Sibir Boxing Academy in Novosibirsk, Russia, in December while Mcotheli beat Gift Bholo in Johannesburg in September.
