Royal AM did the double on SuperSport United beating them 2-0 in a DStv Premiership match at a rain-soaked Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Sunday.
Mxolisi Macuphu, a former Matsatsantsa a Pitori player, returned to Atteridgeville to haunt his former club as he put Royal AM ahead in the seventh minute.
Matsatsantsa got an opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot after Samuel Manganyi had fouled Thamsanqa Gabuza. Royal AM goalkeeper Patrick Nyame saved Jamie Webber’s penalty in the 10th minute.
Royal AM top goalscorer Victor Letsoalo made it 2-0 after he converted a penalty in the 76th minute. The penalty came after Guilty Manziba had pushed Wandile Mabuza inside the box.
The Durban side defeated Matsatsantsa 2-1 in a first round match at the Chatsworth Stadium earlier this season.
