Eastern Cape boxing trainer Kholisile ‘KC’ Cengani is plotting the downfall of current South African lightweight champion Tshifhiwa Munyai.

Cengani is going to usher his boxer Aphiwe ‘Swagger’ Mboyiya into battle when he challenges Munyai in Mpumalanga on Friday, 8 April.

“We have no time to play games. We are serious about this mission. I have watched Munyai, especially when he fights against southpaws,” Cengani said.

Before each an every training session, Cengani and Mboyiya watch Munyai’s videos and then practise what they need to do to the champion.

“We know what we will do to him during the fight. Munyai is a very experienced boxer while Aphiwe is a top dog. I don’t want to lie, we are going to Mpumalanga to get the title,” Cengani added.

The 30-year-old Mboyiya will be seeking to win his third SA title having been a featherweight and junior-lightweight champion before.

Meanwhile, former SA female flyweight champion Noxolo Makhanavu is going to make her debut in the bantamweight division at the same tournament.

Makhanavu, who relinquished her title in August last year because of weight issues, faces Melissa Miller in an eight rounds bout.

Miller lost her national bantamweight title to Sharadene Fortuin last August and failed to regain it during a rematch in December.
