The disciplinary committee of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has charged Kaizer Chiefs for including Mduduzi Shabalala and Aiden McCarthy in their team sheet during their DStv Premiership match against Sekhukhune United in December last year.
The charge sheet regards that Amakhosi have been charged with fielding two improperly registered players.
“I hearby confirm that Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has been charged for fielding two defaulters, Aiden Tristan McCarthy and Mduduzi Shabalala, in the match between themselves and Sekhukhune FC, on 12 December 2021. These players were not properly registered for purposes of the DStv Premiership, but were registered for purposes of the reserve league. That is the basis of the allegations which they are facing. The matter has been enrolled for hearing on the 14th of April, 2022 at 14h00. Once the matter is finalised, I will confirm the outcome of the DC,” PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu said.
The PSL and Amakhosi are still fighting over Chiefs’ failure to honour matches against Cape Town City at home and Lamontville Golden Arrows away last December. Chiefs didn’t honour the matches after more than 30 Amakhosi tested positive for COVID-19.
