Phumlani Maloni put up an impressive performance when he defeated Malaki Sobolo at the Ncumisa Kondlo Community Hall, Peddie, in the Eastern Cape on Sunday.
The win over Duncan Village’s Sobolo means that Maloni from Makhanda is the new Eastern Cape minimumweight champion.
On the other hand, Ndikho Nyebe scored a first round technical knockout victory over Bongani Thole in a six-round featherweight bout.
In the only bout that feateoured female boxers, Thapelo Bokwe defeated Emihle Ntunja on points in the flyweight division.
