Fans favourite Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile is happy that he’s going to return to the ring next month, seven months after he last laced his gloves.

The former world title contender is scheduled to fight at a Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) tournament on Saturday, 18 June, against an as-yet-to-be announced opponent. Fuzile is also going to make his debut in the lightweight division after he moved up in January.

“It’s a relief now that a date has been set for my next fight even though my opponent has not been confirmed yet,” the former South African featherweight champion said.

Following his decision to move up from junior-lightweight to lightweight, the talented 25-year-old Duncan Village-based southpaw has insisted that he will fight in a new division next month.

“We have been working hard at the gym because we knew that we’ll fight. I have not changed my mind about fighting in the lightweight division. We have looked at the mistakes I made in my last fight and we continue to work on rectifying them,” Fuzile remarked.

Fuzile has not fought since he lost to Kenichi Ogawa from Japan in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight title contest at the Madison Square Garden in New York, United States, in November last year.

And this is going to be Fuzile’s first fight in East London since the disappointment of September 2019 when he was stopped by Tajikistan boxer Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov in an IBF junior-lightweight elimination bout.
