Substitutes Dan Ndhlovu and Decide Chauke saved Baroka FC during their 2-2 draw with Chippa United in a DStv Premiership match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday afternoon.
After a goalless first half, Chilli Boys defender Riaan Hanamub’s powerful shot broke the deadlock in the 67th minute following a pass from Siphesihle Mkhize.
Ndhlovu, who had replaced an injured Richard Mbulu towards the end of the first half, equalised in the 75th minute when he put the ball between Chilli Boys goalkeeper and captain Loydt Kazapua’s legs.
The goal spurred on Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele as they launched attack after attack. They took the lead through Chauke in the 84th minute after a pass from Evidence Makgopa. Chauke, who came on for Bennet Bobete, had only been on the field for 14 minutes when he netted the goal.
It looked like Bakgaga were going to record their second successive win until Chill Boys’ second half substitute Thokozani Sekotlong, who celebrated his 31st birthday on Saturday, equalised for the Eastern Cape side in added time.
Meanwhile, Marumo Gallants and Lamontville Golden Arrows played to a goalless draw in another match held at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
