Lunga Sitemela’s trainer Emil Brice has insisted that Sibusiso Zingange’s days as a South African junior-lightweight champion are numbered.
Brice said this as Eastern Cape-born Sitemela continues to sweat it out at their Cape Town gym preparing to challenge Zingange in Johannesburg in just over two weeks.
“Everything is going well. Sitemela has been out for over a year now. We had been training and keeping fit waiting for things to happen,” Brice said.
“We are ready for this fight. We are ready to take the title. Sitemela is going to be too much for Zingange. We are going to Johannesburg to win the fight.”
Zingange from Boksburg in Ekurhuleni is going to make the first defence of the title he won when he outpointed Phila Mpontshane in February this year.
“We were even prepared to take on Mpontshane before he lost his title to Zingange this year,” Brice revealed.
Meanwhile, Brice is also going to be in the corner of SA female bantamweight champion Sharadene Fortuin when she faces Malawian Ellen Simwaka in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa female title in the same tournament.
