Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has spoken out against the decision taken by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to award Morocco the right to host the final of the CAF Champions League.

Morocco, who hosted last year’s final between the Red Devils and Kaizer Chiefs, was on Monday confirmed by CAF as hosts of this year’s final, which is scheduled for Monday, 30 May.

The decision went against the Red Devils’ request to CAF not to award the hosting of the final to any of the four countries that have clubs playing in the Champions League semi-finals.

Writing on Twitter, Mosimane said: “When the Caf Champions League group stages games were finished, rumours were saying South Africa is hosting. Hao, jikijiki, after semifinals game were decided, there was a loud silence on the country to host the final. Then after the first leg of the semi finals, suddenly Morocco is hosting.”

The decision to choose Morocco as hosts has been condemned with some football fans arguing that CAF is giving Moroccan side Wydad Club Athletic home ground advantage. Wydad beat Petro Atletico 3-1 away in Angola in the Champion’s League first leg last Saturday.
