Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler is continuing with his preparations for his important fight against Mexican boxer Elwin ‘La Pulga’ Soto.
Budler and Soto clash in a World Boxing Council (WBC) junior-flyweight elimination bout in Mexico City, Mexico, on Sunday, 26 June (South African time).
The 34-year-old Budler has been sparring with former world champions DeeJay Kriel and Simphiwe Konkco while preparing to face Soto.
“I’m feeling good and strong. DeeJay has been helping me a lot. Simphiwe Konkco as well. At the moment, DeeJay and Simphiwe are my main sparring partners,” Budler told SAfm’s Sport On programme on Wednesday evening.
Budler also revealed that he together with his stablemate Kriel are going to leave South Africa for Mexico 10 days before the Soto fight.
Their trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan will join them later after he had manned Lerato Dlamini’s corner during his fight in East London on Saturday, 18 June.
