Champions Mamelodi Sundowns ended their DStv Premiership programme with a 3-2 win over Royal AM at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Monday afternoon.

The champions broke the deadlock with Gaston Sirino’s goal after he beat Thwihli Thwahla goalkeeper Patrick Nyame in the 13th minute. That was Sirino’s third goal of the season.

Thabiso Kutumela, formerly with Maritzburg United, doubled the Tshwane giants’ lead when he netted three minutes into the second half.

The Brazilians continued to attack and their efforts were rewarded with Peter Shalulil’s goal in the 61st minute. That was the Namibian international’s 23rd goal of the season.

Thwihli Thwahla had an opportunity to pull one back after referee Jelly Chavani awarded them a penalty following a foul on Victor Letsoalo by Grant Kekana. Letsoalo’s penalty was saved by Sundowns goalminder Kennedy Mweene in the 64th minute.

Five minutes later, Letsoalo made amends when he beat Mweene to score his 15th goal of the season. Shaun Mogaila scored Thwihli Thwahla’s second goal of the match in the 76th minute.
