South African champion Sibusiso Zingange’s respect for his opponents knows no bounds as he’s going to face Lunga Sitemela on Thursday.

Zingange is set to make the first defence of his SA junior-lightweight title against Sitemela at The Galleria in Johannesburg.

“We are done preparing for this fight and I’m ready for Sitemela. I’m not underestimating him. Actually, I have never underestimated my opponents,” Zingange remarked.

Boksburg-based Zingange dished out an impressive performance on his way to dethroning former champion Phila Mpontshane three months ago. And he’s determined to do the same against Sitemela or dish out an even better performance.

“I’m sure that he’s bringing his A game to the fight. I’m not bothered because I know that the title is going to remain with me after we have fought. Both of us are determined to win. This is not going to be an easy fight for both of us,” Zingange said.

Meanwhile, Sitemela and his stablemate Sharadene Fortuin together with their trainer Emil Brice and physical conditioner Allan Dillon arrived in Johannesburg from Cape Town on Sunday.

Fortuin, who is the current SA female bantamweight champion, is scheduled to clash with Ellen Simwaka from Malawi in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa female title contest in the main supporting bout.

Fortuin from Seymour in the Eastern Cape defeated Simwaka in their first meeting in December 2017.
