Lunga “Pressure Cooker” Sitemela is the new South African junior-lightweight champion after he dethroned Sibusiso Zingange in Johannesburg on Thursday evening.
The Dordrecht-born Sitemela, who is based in Cape Town, put up a brave performance and won the fight by a 10th round technical knockout after Zingange failed to answer to the bell.
Zingange from Boksburg dislocated his left shoulder and struggled to fight properly. Zingange was making his first defence of the title he won when he defeated Phila Mpontshane three months ago.
The 31-year-old Sitemela has stretched his record to 14 wins with eight knockouts and a loss while Zingange dropped to 17 wins, six losses and two draws.
