Jeff Magagane defeated Sithembiso Maduna on points during their 10 rounds featherweight bout at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Magagane’s victory was marred by abominable behaviour from Maduna’s trainer Michael Sediane. The latter assaulted Magagane and was then dragged out of the ring. This was the second time Sediane disgraced himself at a tournament.

He dashed for South African featherweight champion Asanda Gingqi when the South African featherweight champion clashed with Maduna at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) in March this year.

“I turned and saw the guy throwing combinations at my boxer. I really don’t know the reasons behind his behaviour. He was dragged out of the ring, that’s what I saw. Thereafter, he took the mic and apologised to me and Jeff. Luckily, Jeff didn’t get hurt,” Magagane’s trainer Alan Toweel said.

Meanwhile, Mbiya Kanku from the Democratic Republic of Congo beat Walter Dlamini by a seventh round technical knockout in as super-middleweight eight rounds bout.
