Fighting in his home province for the first time since making his professional debut in July 2011 has brought joy to Prince Dlomo’s heart.
The Pietermaritzburg-born South African junior-welterweight champion is going to make a third defence of his title when he clashes with Xolani Mgidi from Ogies in Mpumalanga.
Dlomo and Mgidi are going to square off at the Greyville Convention Centre in Durban this coming Sunday.
“It’s going to be the first time I fight in KwaZulu-Natal since I turned professional. I’m very happy to go fight in my home province. I hope to get support there,” Dlomo said.
The 32-year-old Dlomo, who is based in Mzimhlophe, Soweto, defeated Mgidi on points the first time they met in April 2018.
“I won our first fight. I hope to continue where I left off in 2018,” Dlomo, who has defended his title against Siseko Makeleni and Xolani Mcotheli, said.
The fight against Mgidi comes less than a month after Dlomo successfully defended his title in a rematch against Mcotheli.
