Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has won the May Coach of the Month award ahead of Cape Town City’s Eric Tinkler, Mamelodi Sundowns twin coaches Manqoba Mngqithi and Rulani Mokwena.
Barker led Stellies to a five-match unbeaten run in May winning matches against Sundowns and the Citizens. Stellies drew with Swallows FC, Maritzburg United and SuperSport United.
Hugo Marques, on the other hand, walked away with the Player of the Month award beating Ashley du Preez, Peter Shalulile and Aubrey Modiba.
The Angolan international kept a record four clean sheets in his team’s five matches in May.
Meanwhile, Royal AM defender Thabo Matlaba has won the Goal of the Month award for the goal he scored during their 2-2 draw with Orlando Pirates.
