Being part of the Bafana Bafana set-up is regarded as an honour and privilege by Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo.

Mthatha-born Mayo is in the Bafana camp preparing for next Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco. The match is going to be played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

“It’s an honour and privilege for me to be part of the Bafana Bafana squad, being able to be recognised by head coach,” the former Richards Bay FC striker said.

The Citizens forward follows in the footsteps of his father Patrick, who played and scored against Morocco in a 2004 AFCON finals match in Sousse, Tunisia.

“I’m looking forward to the game on Thursday next week against Morocco in Morocco. There’s so much things going on. We have a good mind and great spirit in the camp,” said Mayo.

The 23-year-old Mayo has only been playing top-flight footbalI for a season and has made an impact since joining the Citizens from the Natal Rich Boyz.
