Mdantsane boxer Zolani ‘Last Born’ Tete’s preparations for his fight against Jason Cunningham from the United Kingdom are at an advanced stage.
Speaking on SAfm’s Sport On programme on Wednesday evening, Tete revealed that he’s been preparing for the Cunningham fight since the beginning of May.
Tete and Cunningham are scheduled to fight in an IBF International and Commonwealth junior-featherweight bout at the Ovono Arena, Wembley, on Saturday, 2 July.
“I have been in camp since the end of April. We have been working hard. I started preparing for Cunningham at the beginning of May,” the former IBF junior-bantamweight and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight titlist revealed.
Initially, the 34-year-old Tete was set to face Cunningham on Saturday, 11 June. The date was changed at 32-year-old Cunningham’s request.
Tete is preparing for this fight with the help of his trainer Loyiso Mtya, his elder brother Makazole, his dad Zolile and fitness trainer Thulasizwe Sifatyi.
