Bongokuhle Hlongwane is concerned that he is yet to score a goal in the United States Major League Soccer (MLS) after joining Minnesota United from Maritzburg United five months ago.
In camp with his Bafana Bafana teammates ahead of Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Hlongwane hopes his scoring touch will return.
“Sometimes I feel like I’m putting myself under pressure. I know what I can do on the field. I have to believe in myself. I will keep pushing,” Hlongwane said.
Hlongwane, who turns 22 on 20 June, sometimes feel home sick, especially when other players have their relatives watching them during matches.
“Sometimes when I see people coming with their families to games I feel like I need my family to come and support me. But it’s impossible for that to happen,” Hlongwane said.
“If you know what you want in life you do what you can to face every challenge coming your way. I want to change my life. I know where I come from.”
