Lwandile Ngxeke is billed to make his first defence of the South African junior-bantamweight title when he fights against Lindile Tshemese in East London on Sunday, 19 June.
Ngxeke from Sada won the national title after he stopped former champion Athenkosi Dumezweni in the 10th round at the Sun City Superbowl in Rustenburg two months ago.
Now the unbeaten Ngxeke gets to fight against yet another former SA junior-bantamweight champion Tshemese.
Initially, Tshemese was supposed to have fought for the title against Dumezweni, but stepped aside after negotiations with Ngxeke’s handlers.
Tshemese from Duncan Village in East London lost the title when he was outpointed by Yanga Sigqibo in September 2017. He had only made two defences of the title he had won in a fight against Sithembiso Faye in March 2016.
