Morocco got off to a great start beating Bafana Bafana 2-1 in their opening 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Thursday evening.

The Atlas Lions came from behind to beat Bafana after trailing in the first half.

Bafana raced to an early lead inside the first 10 minutes scoring through Lyle Foster in the eighth minute.

The Moroccans kept on attacking in search of an equaliser, but they found Bafana goalkeeper and captain Ronwen Williams in no mood to leak goals as he made brilliant saves in the first half.

The Moroccans started the second half where they left off in the first stanza, launching attack after attack. Their efforts were rewarded when Youssef En-Nesyri equalised in the 51st minute.

The home team continued with their forays into the Bafana box. Ultimately, they found their winning goal, which was scored by Ayoub El Kaabi four minutes from full-time.
