Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos thought his team would return home with something from their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Thursday evening.

However, things didn’t go the way of Broos’ team as they were beaten 2-1 by the Atlas Lions after leading 1-0 at half-time.

“I thought we could win. This is disappointing. We lost the ball in a simply way,” Broos remarked after the match.

Bafana are going to play against Liberia home and away in September and Broos hopes to get positive results from both matches.

“We know what to do in September. We played against a very strong Moroccan team. Let’s hope we can do it twice in September,” the 70-year-old Belgian said.

There are only three teams – Bafana, Morocco and Liberia – in Group K after FIFA suspended Zimbabwe.
