Mapetla Mzamo is not concerned about people who believe his boxer Lindile Tshemese is more like a lamb to the slaughter as he fights against Lwandile Ngxeke at the East London International Convention Centre (ICC) on Saturday evening.
Some boxing fans reckon that Ngxeke would be too powerful for Tshemese as he makes his first defence of the South African junior-bantamweight title he won when he stopped Athenkosi Dumezweni in April.
“We have made the weight with ease. We have heard people writing us off saying this is an easy fight for Ngxeke. One thing I know is that Ngxeke has a mountain to climb. People are going to be shocked,” Mzamo said.
“He’s not going to have it easy during the fight. We are going to put him in his place. We are not afraid of him. We are going to reclaim our title.”
Tshemese once held the national junior-bantamweight title after he defeated Sithembiso Faye in March 2016. He went on to defend the title twice defeating Thembelani Maphuma and Dumezweni before being dethroned by Yanga Sigqibo in September 2017.
