Ronald Malindi retained his South African bantamweight title when he defeated Rofhiwa Nemushungwa at the Steve Tshwete Banquet Hall in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, early on Saturday morning. 

Making his fourth defence of the title, Malindi won by a split decision having been given the nod by two judges Ben Ncapai and Siya Mani while Simon Mokadi gave the fight to Nemushungwa. 

After 12 rounds of action where Nemushungwa was the busiest boxer, Ncapai and Mani scored the bout 115-114 and 117-115 for Malindi with Mokadi scoring it 115-114 for the challenger. 

Meanwhile, Katie Healy from Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom became the new World Boxing Federation (WBF) female junior-featherweight champion after she outpointed Matshidiso Mokebisi. 

On the other hand, Thato Bonokoane successfully defended his WBF Intercontinental junior-featherweight title after he stopped Filipino boxer Jhaleel Payao in the 12th round.
