Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele has left the Buccaneers after almost 20 years of playing for the Soweto side.
Jele leaves Pirates having won eight titles since making his debut against Maritzburg United during the 2006/07 season in September 2006. He won the league title twice, Nedbank Cup twice, Telkom Knockout once and the MTN8 three times.
According to Pirates, the 35-year-old Jele was given a choice to continue being part of the club in another capacity. However, Jele indicated to the Bucs hierarchy that he still wanted to continue playing something which resulted in him leaving the team on Monday.
Middelburg-born Jele, who joined Pirates from Walter Stars in 2006, played more than 400 matches for Bucs and scored 18 goals for the team.
