Reigning South African flyweight champion Jackson ‘M3’ Chauke has promised to stop Sinethemba Kotana when they face off on Thursday, 29 September.
The 37-year-old Chauke will be defending his SA title for the fourth time when he comes up against Mdantsane-born Kotana, who is trained by Bernie Pailman in Westbury, Johannesburg.
Chauke made the September prediction after he stopped Tanzanian boxer Mustafa Khalid Mkupasi in the third round during a vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) flyweight title fight at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Thursday evening.
Already, Chauke has defended his SA title three times – against Eastern Cape boxers. He defeated Sihle Jelwana and Luyanda Ntwanambe while he drew with Phumelela Cafu.
“Kotana is next. I want Kotana, I want to see if he can roll with the big boys. It’s gonna be a stoppage. I will give him eight rounds,” Chauke said.
Talking about his win over Mkupasi, Tembisa-based Chauke said: “It feels good. It shows that hard work pays. I knew I was going to get the victory, but it was not one of my best performances. The guy was a bit awkward. But I did the job. I said I was gonna knock him out in three rounds. What I say, I do.”
