Lara van Niekerk and Tatjana Schoenmaker came first and second in the 100-metre breaststroke final at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, on Tuesday evening.
This was 19-year-old Van Niekerk’s second gold won in 1:05,47 following her victory in the 50-m breaststroke on Saturday evening.
On the other hand, 25-year-old Schoenmaker won her second medal at the Games having bagged gold in the 200m breaststroke on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Pieter Coetze won his third medal when he came third in the men’s 200m breaststroke. The 18-year-old Coetze won gold in the 100m breaststroke on Saturday and silver in the 50m breaststroke on Monday.
