Defending DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns opened the 2022/23 season with a bright start defeating Cape Town City 2-0 at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening.
Aubrey Modiba gave the Brazilians the lead when he rifled home a free kick in the 61st minute. Two minutes later, Themba Zwane netted for the Tshwane giants to make it 2-0.
Former SuperSport United captain and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams started for the Brazilians while his former Matsatsantsa a Pitori teammate Sipho Mbule also made his Sundowns debut when he came on for Peter Shalulile towards the end of the match.
