Chippa United stole a point when they held a 10-man SuperSport United to a 1-1 draw in a DStv Premiership match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Sunday evening.
The Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys took the lead after Ronald Pfumbidzai scored in the 17th minute. The Zimbabwean rose high and headed past Matsatsantsa a Pitori goalkeeper Ricardo Goss off Siphelele Luthuli’s free kick.
Matsatsantsa started the second half with more purpose putting the Chilli Boys defence under pressure. The home side finally found the back of the net when Bradley Grobler equalised in the 63rd minute.
Matsatsantsa were reduced to 10 men after match referee Thokozani Mkhize red carded Goss for punching Pfumbidzai in added time.
The Chilli Boys’ next match is against Royal AM at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Wednesday (19h30) while Matsatsantsa are going to travel to Durban for a date with AmaZulu on the same day (17h00).
