Steve Barker will be looking to register his first win of the season when his team Stellenbosch FC welcome Orlando Pirates at the Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands on Wednesday evening.
The Stellies coach led his team to a goalless draw with Marumo Gallants in their season opener at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last Saturday. And he now wants to add maximum points to the point they already have.
The Buccaneers go to this match following a 1-0 win over their neighbours Swallows FC last weekend.
“They come off a win. They will want to take that momentum to Wednesday. But at the same time, we will have to impose ourselves and it’s our home game,” Barker said.
The former AmaZulu and University of Pretoria mentor has said that he’s happy with the players he recruited even though they failed to score last weekend.
“We have to make sure that we put in a performance that puts us in a position to take all three points. I’m pleased with the players that we have acquired. We will only get better once the team starts gelling. I’m looking for consistency,” Barker remarked.
