Royal AM co-coach Dan Malesela was surprisingly unhappy after his team defeated Chippa United 3-1 away at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Wednesday evening.
The former Chilli Boys mentor was unhappy because he believed Thwihli Thwahla should have done better during the match.
“Not the prettiest, I must be honest. We struggled with the condition, little bit of dew. The ball was slipping away,” Malesela remarked.
“We struggled to connect passes. We struggled to play going forward. On the flip side, we managed to score goals. I would be worried if they were not created. We appreciate the three points.”
Thwihli Thwahla have had a great start to the 2022/23 season winning their first two opening matches as they also beat Kaizer Chiefs last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Chilli Boys coach Daine Klate admitted that his boys didn’t play well in the first 45 minutes of the match.
“First half we were poor. Lots of positives came out in the second half. Much better application, much better intensity, much more balls in the box,” he said.
The Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys only have a point from two matches. They drew with SuperSport United in their opening match away in Atteridgeville last Sunday.
