Monalisa Takane believes that she will have home ground advantage when she challenges South African champion Matshidiso ‘Scorpion Queen’s Mokebisi.
This is so because Takane faces SA female junior-featherweight champion Mokebisi in Gqeberha just 79 kilometres from her Kirkwood home.
The clash between the two lasses, which is going to be promoted by Jacob Mnisi’s J4Joy Promotions, is scheduled for the Feathermarket Theatre on Sunday, 9 October.
“I’m very happy to get this opportunity. I have been looking forward to getting this opportunity,” the unbeaten 30-year-old Takane remarked.
Despite being a four-fight novice, Takane said that she’s not afraid to face off with the more experienced Mokebisi, who has a professional record of 15 victories with five knockouts, 10 losses and a draw.
“Yes, she’s more experienced than I am. But I don’t think that is going to be a problem. To be the best, one has to beat the best. This is exactly what I’m gonna do,” Takane said.
Meanwhile, Thato Bonokoane will clash against Argentine boxer Diego Alberto Ruiz in a World Boxing Federation (WBF) junior-featherweight title fight in the same bill.
