Luvuyo Sizani from Ilinge in Komani is going to fight against Russian boxer Artysh Lopsan in Russia next month after signing a contract on Wednesday.
Sizani, the current African Boxing Union (ABU) SADC light-heavyweight champion, will be fighting in Russia for the first time when he faces Lopsan on Friday, 30 September.
The unbeaten 27-year-old Sizani, who is trained by Baba Makala in Somerset East, is the only boxer rated in the South African light-heavyweight division. He has won all his six fights with three of those ending in stoppages.
Sizani will go to the Lopsan fight on the back of a successful ABU SADC light-heavyweight title defence. He defeated Jackson Masamba from the Democratic Republic of Congo on points during their fight, which was held at the SABC Renaissance Centre in Auckland Park, last month.
Meanwhile, Lopsan is on a six fights winning streak and has only lost once in his career. He suffered the loss in his fourth professional fight in 2020 against his compatriot Pavel Silyagin, who is unbeaten in 11 bouts.
The 27-year-old Lopsan, originally from Shagonar in Russia, has a professional record of eight victories with five stoppages, one defeat and a draw.
