Star female rugby player and Border Ladies captain Lusanda Dumke prefers to have a roof over her head than driving a flashy car.
Dumke, who walked away with the Sports Star of the Year and Sportswoman of the Year awards at the Eastern Cape Sport and Recreation Achiever Awards function in Gqeberha last Friday, won a brand new car at the shindig.
Though she’s grateful after getting the car, the 25-year-old has made her preference clear as she feels it won’t be nice to drive a flashy car while staying in a shack. She has now informed the car sponsors – Joma Sports – about her wish.
Cape Town-born Dumke lives together with her 85-year-old grandmother and aunt, 51, at the Masibambane squatter camp in Mdantsane.
