The Canaries of Brazil were a class act as they whipped Banyana Banyana 6-0 in the second international friendly match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Monday evening.
A blunder by Banyana goalkeeper Kaylin Swart resulted in the ball landing on Adriana Leal da Silva’s path for the Canaries’ early lead in the fifth minute.
The Brazilians probed further and Debora Cristiane de Oliveira made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time.
The Canaries continued to dominate early in the second half. Referee Nuru Malogo awarded them a penalty after Swart fouled Beatriz Zaneratto Joao inside the box. Joao dusted herself up and made it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the 50th minute.
Two minutes later, Maria Eduarda Francelino da Silva scored the Canaries’ fourth goal.
The Canaries were not done yet as Kathellen de Sousa Feitoza netted the Brazilians’ fifth goal of the match.
De Oliveira completed her brace when she headed in past Swart from Kerolin Nicoli Israel Ferraz’s cross eight minutes before full-time.
