South African champion John ‘Section 29’ Bopape from Alexandra, Johannesburg, will get a chance to add yet another title.

The SA middleweight titlist faces James Mbiya Kanku from the Democratic Republic of Congo at PACOFS, Bloemfontein, on Friday, 30 September.

The 31-year-old Bopape and Kanku are going to fight for the vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) middleweight title.

Bopape, who won the SA title when he stopped former champion Nkululeko Mhlongo in the 11th round in April, will go to battle with Kanku on a high having defended his national crown once.

Having won his last three fights, Bopape defeated Snamiso Ntuli from Ladysmith in his first defence of the SA title in July.

On the other hand, Kanku, who has registered four wins in his last five fights, stopped Walter Dlamini in Booysens in May.
