South African champion Bangile Nyangani does not believe that Gaveni Nkwenteni has what it takes to dethrone him.
Nyangani meets Nkwenteni in the second defence of his South African minimumweight title at The Galleria in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Thursday next week.
“I’m very well prepared for this fight. This is a very important fight to me. I have to successfully defend my title,” Nyangani said.
Mthatha-born Nyangani, who is trained by Alan Toweel in Johannesburg, has revealed that he knows Nkwenteni very well.
“I know him from a young age. He hasn’t changed much as a boxer. Actually, he’s not going to change. I’m going to have an easy fight against this four rounder,” Nyangani said.
Nyangani, who is rated by all the world’s top four boxing bodies, defeated Loyiso Ngantweni on points in his first title defence in April. He won the SA title when he beat Siyakholwa Kuse on points in July last year.
Both the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) rate Nyangani in 14th place while he’s eighth on the World Boxing Association (WBA) ratings and the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has him in 13th spot.
