Following his victory over Tshifhiwa ‘Atomic Spider’ Munyai on Saturday evening, Lusanda ‘Mexican’ Komanisi refuses to entertain talks of a fight against Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile until contracts have been signed.
Komanisi, who defeated Munyai to win the South African lightweight title at the Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, has revealed that his promoter Happy Tewo has informed him about a fight against Fuzile later this year.
“I’m promoted by Tewo Boxing Promotions, no one else. Tewo has told me that I will fight against Azinga in December. I’m not entertaining that because it’s just talk now. I don’t want to get excited until a contract has been signed,” Komanisi said.
On his thoughts on the fight against Munyai, the former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion said: “Munyai was stronger than I expected him to be. He was too much of an opponent. But I was ready for him.”
Winning on Saturday meant that Komanisi from Mdantsane is now a two-time SA champion having once held the national featherweight title.
