East London southpaw Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha will be looking at improving his ratings in top world boxing bodies when he clashes with Orlie Silvestre from the Philippines.
Tyirha faces the Pinoy boxer in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental junior-flyweight title contest on Sunday, 30 October.
“My plan is to make sure that I win and move up the ratings. For instance, I have dropped to fifth on the WBO ratings. I need to move up,” Tyirha, who is trained by Khangelani Jack, said.
Currently, Tyirha is rated 15th by the IBF, eighth by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) rates him in fifth place.
The 28-year-old Silvestre from MP Boxing Gym in Davao is the fourth Filipino to face Tyirha since May last year. So far, Tyirha has beaten Silvestre’s compatriots Esneth Domingo, Jaysever Abcede and Joey Canoy.
“We are doing well at training preparing for this fight. I’m going to win this fight and then see what will happen after that,” Tyirha remarked.
This is going to be the former South African junior-flyweight champion’s first fight since he joined Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) last month.
