After struggling to make the required weight before his fight against Filipino boxer Ken Jordan on Sunday, Ludumo ‘9MM’ Lamati has decided to move up one division.

Lamati had to visit the scales three times before making the junior-featherweight limit ahead of his fight against Jordan. He outpointed the Filipino at the Booysens Boxing Club in Johannesburg.

“I’m moving up to the featherweight division now. I believe that I will be comfortable at featherweight,” Lamati said on Monday.

“I struggled to make the weight before my fight on Sunday. I had to drop two kilograms and had to go jog twice before I finally made the weight.”

Lamati, who is 30 years old, said that it was his experience, which pulled him through during Jordan fight.

“Honestly, I was not myself during the fight. I had to work very hard and won it because of my experience,” the former South African and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) junior-featherweight champion said.
