Thato ‘Captain Charisma’ Bonokoane, who is challenging for the World Boxing Federation (WBF) junior-featherweight title, is looking for a perfect birthday present.
And Bonokoane believes that there’s no better time to get such a present than to win a world title when he meets Argentine boxer Diego Alberto ‘El Profeta’ Ruiz at the Feathermarket Theatre in Gqebera on Sunday.
“I want a great birthday present. I need my WBF belt, that would be my best birthday present ever,” Bonokoane, who turns 32 on Saturday, said.
The WBF Intercontinental champion, who is trained by Charrit Mukondeleli, arrived in Gqebera on Friday morning. And he has insisted that everything is under control.
“I’m on weight as we speak. I’m on 55,4 kilograms already. So it won’t be difficult to make the 55,34kg weight during the weigh-in. I’m ready for the fight,” Bonokoane said on Friday.
Bonokoane goes to this fight on the back of a win over Filipino boxer Jhaleel Payao in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, three months ago. Ruiz, meanwhile, lost to British boxer Jack Bateson in his last fight in Leeds in June this year.
