Filipino boxing trainer Julius Erving Junco has revealed that negotiations are on-going regarding his boxer Mark Mendoza Vicelles’ fight against Mexican Hector Flores.
This comes after the International Boxing Federation (IBF) ordered Vicelles and Flores to face off in an IBF junior-flyweight elimination bout.
The winner of this bout is going to challenge South African boxer Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga, who won the world title after he outpointed Flores in Mexico last month.
“Nothing has been finalised yet. Negotiations are on-going and we are willing to take the fight,” Junco, who trains Vicelle, said.
The unbeaten Vicelles is rated second by the World Boxing Council (WBC), 10th on the World Boxing Association (WBA) ratings, fourth by the IBF and number one by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO).
Flores, meanwhile, is fourth on the WBA ratings, rated third by the IBF and is in 15th spot on the WBO ratings.
Vicelles has 17 wins with 10 of those victories coming from stoppages and one fight ended in a draw.
On the other hand, Flores has 20 wins with half of those being knockouts and he has drawn four fights.
