Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini lost in his bid to win a world title after he was defeated on points by James ‘Jazza’ Dickens in Liverpool on Saturday evening.
Dickens captured the vacant International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight title with a unanimous decision in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Two of the judges Howard Foster and Mikael Hook scored the fight 115-113 and the third one Per Kjerulf Hansen had Dickens winning by 116-112.
Dlamini, who stopped Filipino boxer Jelbirt Gomera in Bloemfontein two weeks ago, tried his best against Dickens. However, his best was not enough to win him the fight.
This was Welkom-born Dlamini’s second career loss and the first defeat in just over seven years. Before the fight, Dlamini suffered his first loss to Michael Mokoena in his professional debut in July 2015.
