Former South African, Border and Cape junior-bantamweight champion Simphiwe Pamana is going to be buried on Saturday, 29 October.

Pamana, 52, passed away following a hit and run accident in East London more than week ago. His funeral service is going to be held at the NU 12 Community Hall in Mdantsane.

A memorial service is set for the same Mdantsane venue on Wednesday, 26 October starting at 16h00.

In a professional career, which started in 1989 and ended in 2002, Pamana won 20 fights with eight of those being knockouts and lost four times.

Pamana tried and failed three times in his bid to win the SA bantamweight title. He was defeated by Patrick Quka in May 1995 and then lost twice to the late Sandile Sobandla in May 1998 and December 2000.
