Maritzburg United held AmaZulu to a 1-1 draw in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Wednesday evening.
Usuthu took the lead through Gabadinho Mhango in the 38th minute. Mhango was making a return after missing two matches due to suspension.
Match referee Thando Ndzandzeka reduced Usuthu to 10 men when he gave Tercious Malepe a straight red card in the 56th minute.
A numerical advantage gave the Team of Choice some hope of getting an equaliser which came from Friday Samu in the 77th minute.
